Use the original English or international title where possible. Adding the year or episode details helps separate remakes and similarly named releases.

How to find the correct Sinhala subtitle file

Start with the exact original title and year. For a series, confirm the season and episode numbers. Before using a subtitle, compare its release information—such as WEB-DL, BluRay, HDTV, runtime or frame rate—with your video. A subtitle prepared for a different cut may slowly move out of sync even when the opening lines match.

SRT, VTT and ASS subtitle formats

SRT is the most widely supported plain subtitle format. VTT is common in web video, while ASS can include richer styling and positioning. Device support differs, so SRT is usually the simplest choice for televisions and general media players. Keep Sinhala text encoded as Unicode/UTF-8 to avoid boxes or broken characters.

How to add Sinhala subtitles to a video

  1. Place the video and subtitle file in the same folder.
  2. Give both files the same base name while keeping their original extensions.
  3. Open the video and select the Sinhala track from the player’s subtitle menu.
  4. If dialogue appears early or late, use the player’s subtitle-delay or synchronization control.

Use third-party subtitle sources carefully

Peak Lanka provides search links and does not host, review or guarantee external subtitle files. A normal subtitle is a text-based file such as SRT, VTT or ASS; do not run unexpected executable files or disable device security to open a download. Check the source’s terms and use subtitles only where you have the right to access the underlying video and subtitle material.

Sinhala subtitle finder questions

Does Peak Lanka store Sinhala subtitles?

No. This finder creates focused searches for external websites. Peak Lanka does not download, copy, mirror or validate their subtitle files.

Why can’t I find a subtitle for a title?

A Sinhala subtitle may not have been created or indexed yet. Check the original title spelling, remove the year if it is uncertain, or search using the title shown on IMDb or the official release.

Why are Sinhala letters displayed incorrectly?

The subtitle may use an old encoding, a damaged file or a player without suitable Unicode support. Try a current media player and a UTF-8 subtitle file before changing fonts or converting text.
