Food Delivery Apps in Sri Lanka: Which One Do You Use? (PickMe Food vs Uber Eats)

R. Herath Last updated 2 comments

Compare the main food delivery apps available in Sri Lanka, including their restaurant selection, delivery charges, discounts, availability and overall ordering experience.

Food delivery apps have made it easier to order meals, groceries and other items from nearby businesses without contacting each restaurant separately. In Sri Lanka, Uber Eats and PickMe Food are the two main multi-restaurant food delivery platforms. However, the experience can vary according to the customer’s location, available restaurants, delivery-partner availability, fees, promotions and customer support. Share your preferred app based on your own experience, and the responses will determine the order of this list.

Ranked items

  1. Rank 1

    Uber Eats

Uber Eats allows users to browse nearby restaurants, place delivery or pickup orders where available, follow estimated delivery times and pay through the options supported by the app. It offers access to different restaurants depending on the customer’s delivery address, meaning its selection and availability can vary considerably between cities and neighbourhoods. Users may also want to compare delivery charges, service fees, promotions, delivery times and the handling of order-related problems before choosing it regularly.

  2. Rank 2

    PickMe Food

PickMe Food is part of the wider PickMe app and connects users with restaurants and independent delivery partners. Customers can browse participating restaurants, place orders and receive food at their selected address. As a locally developed platform, it is integrated with PickMe’s other services within the same application. Restaurant availability, delivery fees, promotions, estimated arrival times and service quality can still differ depending on the customer’s location and the availability of delivery partners.

  1. I usually go with Uber Eats over PickMe Food. I’ve compared the same restaurant and same meal on both apps quite a few times, and somehow PickMe always ends up with more extra charges at checkout. At first the price looks okay, then after all the fees are added the total is noticeably higher. Uber Eats has its own fees too, obviously, but most of the time it still works out cheaper for me, especially with Uber One.

  2. I usually go with Uber Eats over PickMe Food because I’ve noticed that PickMe often adds quite a few extra fees. Sometimes the exact same meal ends up costing noticeably more on PickMe once all the additional charges are added, so I normally just order through Uber Eats instead.
