Sri Lankan mobile banking apps are truly something special because apparently “functional” and “user-friendly” are optional features. I honestly don’t know whether to blame the banks or the developers, but compare any Sri Lankan banking app with a decent foreign banking app and the difference is painfully obvious. One feels like a finished product. The other feels like someone submitted the beta version and said, “Yep, good enough. Ship it.”
I don’t think it’s an issue with Sri Lankan developers. We have plenty of high-quality software companies in Sri Lanka, like WSO2, IFS, Virtusa, and many others. If Sri Lankan developers were really that bad, companies like these wouldn’t exist or succeed globally.
So yeah, I honestly have no idea why some of our banking apps are still this bad. 😅
Sampath and HNB mobile apps are actually pretty good. But People’s Wave? I don’t even know if we can consider that an Android app at this point. 😂
So many bugs, glitches, and random issues.
