Private Universities and Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka

R. Herath Last updated 0 comments

Sri Lanka has a growing range of private, non-state and self-financed higher education institutes offering local degrees, foreign university degrees, professional qualifications and international transfer pathways. The institutions are not all structured in the same way: some are recognised local degree-awarding institutes, while others primarily deliver programmes awarded by overseas universities. The right choice can depend on the subject you want to study, recognition of the specific degree, tuition fees, location, campus experience and future career or migration plans. This list allows the Peak Lanka community to share their preferences and experiences, with voting helping determine the order.

Before enrolling, students should always verify the recognition and awarding body of the exact programme they are considering. Recognition can differ between programmes even when they are offered by the same institution.
